Pentax introduced the K200D digital SLR in 2008, replacing the K100D as an entry-level model. Compared to higher-spec cameras, it only offers a single control dial, and has a (decent quality) penta-mirror viewfinder rather than a true pentaprism. However it stood out from its budget competitors from other brands by offering good build quality and a top-panel LCD for shooting information.

The K200D includes a 10 megapixel sensor and is powered by four AA batteries. It accepts Pentax KAF2, KAF or KA mount lenses—including manual-focus lenses dating back to 1983.
