Introduced by Pentax in 2006, the K100D is a digital SLR with a 6 megapixel, with a CCD APS-C (23.5 × 15.7 mm) sensor, it was positioned as the entry level alternative to the K10D. It offers in-body stabilization at a low price point, and is compatible with all K-mount lenses. The Pentax K110D is a similar model which lacks the K100D's sensor-shift image stabilization.

In 2007 Pentax brought out a slightly-upgraded K100D Super which added sensor-shake dust removal and support for SDM autofocus lenses (i.e. lenses with their own internal focus motor, rather than being body-driven).
