The Camedia C-21 is a digital camera released from Olympus in 1999.

Similar to many Olympus point and shoot cameras; it is based on a capsule design but with a downward sliding lens cover that also powers up the camera. It features a f/2.4 38mm equivalent lens with a focus distance of 2 feet to infinity. A macro mode is also available that reduces the normal focusing distance to the range of 6 inches to 2 feet. A focus lock is activated by half pressing the shutter release, when doing so, a green LED lights by the finder eyelet. It uses a 2.1 megapixel (2,140,000 pixel) 1/2" CCD based sensor. Images can be recorded a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels in TIFF as well as two (SHQ, HQ) JPEG compression levels. The top of the camera has the shutter release button as well as small LCD panel with information such as battery level, photo quality, flash mode, exposure comp, spot metering mode, and the number of photos that can be captured. An optical finder is available with marks for parallax correction when using macro mode. A built-in flash has a range of 18 inches to 14 feet. Several modes such as auto, red eye, fill, and off. A slow sync flash can also be done with the shutter firing at the beginning or the end of the exposure.

A 114,000 pixel 1.8" TFT color LCD display is also provided for photo review and composing. A button above the screen allows the screen to power on and off. This button also allows you to quickly change from record to preview mode by pressing it rapidly two times. In preview mode the captured photos can be inspected at 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x and 3x magnification by pressing the up and down arrows. Photos can be protected from erasure by pressing the shutter release button while previewing. It uses SmartMedia for removable storage, which is loaded at the base of the camera. There is a tripod bush, but accessing the memory card, and battery compartment requires releasing the tripod. Computer i/o is with a RS232C serial interface with both Windows (9pin) and Macintosh (din8) connections possible. It can be powered by either lithium CR-V3 or two AA batteries.
