Glossary Terms

An off centre ball head is a tripod ball head where the ball is set off the the side, away from the center (post) of the tripod. This arrangement, pioneered by Gitzo in the 1950s, allows for greater flexibility in composing shots, especially in downward angles. Gitzo produced a range of such heads ranging very small (G075) to the Super Giant Ball Head (G576), Today, a range of such heads is being produced, with and without quick release plates.
