Compared to other cameras for Kodapak film the Minolta Autopak 500 has a quite fast lens. It has a focusing knob at the side, a Magicube flash cube turntable connector, and as most significant specialty a squared Lens tube with squared selenium meter window around the lens opening. The selenium cell controls the aperture or fires the flash if needed. In flash mode the aperture is coupled to the focusing knob. The flash cube will be rotated after each flash exposure.

The Autopak 500 was the first or one of the first cameras with automatic flash firing in darkness and dim light. It was sold as the Revue-matic 500 in Germany.
