Minolta 16 QT

The Minolta 16 QT was the last camera made for Minolta's 16mm film cartridges. It features the same larger (12×17mm) frame size as the Minolta-16 MG-S, though it has a simpler 2 speed shutter and three element triplet lens. On the plus side, the lens focuses from 1.2m to infinity, whereas previous Minolta 16mm cameras are fixed focus.

The 16 QT is, despite looking and feeling superficially like a cheap 110-format camera, a rather feature-packed camera. The viewfinder has no less than three different indicators: a red transparent tab that indicates the current focus distance (a symbol-based zone-focusing system controlled by a slider on the bottom of the camera), a red warning bar to indicate that the camera is set to the slow speed, and lights to indicate over- and under-exposure. The viewfinder is an Albada type, with bright parallax-correcting frame-lines for distance and close-focusing.

The shutter speeds are 1/250th and 1/30th, with flash sync at either speed, and the lens has a maximum aperture of f:3.5. The aperture is set by a wheel on top of the camera, and ranges from f:3.5 to f:22. The exposure meter is activated by a button by the aperture wheel, so that one can press it and turn the wheel with one finger. It utilizes an alkaline battery of a fairly unusual size. The QT accepts the same close-up, filter, flash and viewing accessories as the MG-S, including a screw-on hot shoe that accepts standard flashes and offers a PC-socket pass-through for flashes that require noth a mounting shoe and a PC connection. The camera was offered in both chrome and black versions.
