The Retina Ia was a [[folding camera]] for 35mm film made by the German [[Kodak AG]]. It was introduced in January 1951 as new version of the Retina I. It's new feature was the rapid winding lever. The cameras of the Retina I series had an optical viewfinder but no rangefinder. From January to May of 1951, the camera was fitted with a COMPUR-RAPID shutter. In June 1951, this was changed to a SYNCHRO-COMPUR shutter with M-X flash synch. A film glide roller on the back door was also added in June of 1951. The Retina Ia was replaced by the Typ 018 Retina Ib in March 1954.
