An isochromatic emulsion is a black and white photographic emulsion with a color sensitivity range between orthochromatic and panchromatic emulsions.

Isochromatic emulsions are excessively sensitive to violet and blue, have generally correct sensitivity to yellow, slightly low sensitivity to green and register wavelengths up to 620-650 nm (orange/red). They are insensitive to deep red.

Yellow and orange filters can be used when photographing with isochromatic films, with a medium yellow filter giving generally good reproduction of color brightness. Isochromatic films can be handled and processed under dark red light.
