An Instant camera is a camera that uses special film sheets which are prepared for an immediate photochemical image development after exposure, known as instant film. Therefore they have inbuilt mechanical features to trigger the self-development of each image after exposure.

Predecessors of the instant cameras were development-inside cameras like the Appareil Dubroni. Development chemicals had to be given into the camera after exposure of the film plate.
