The Herlight is a Japanese camera taking 4×4cm pictures on 127 film. It was made by Ōfuna Kōgaku in 1947.[1]

Description

The Herlight is a box shaped metal camera, and can be described as a box or a pseudo TLR. The right hand side supports an advance knob, a B and I (Bulb and Instant) selector, a distant release post and the release lever. There is a large brilliant finder at the top, and the name Herlight is written behind the finder eyepiece. The lens is a fixed focus 5cm f/8 called Triplet Ofunar. There is a small plate screwed under the lens, inscribed OFUNA inside a hexagonal logo and supporting the aperture knob with 6, 9, 12, 16 settings.
