Harwix, also known as Optische Anstalt Ewald Harwix and later Harwix Feinwerktechnik GmbH, was a German optical and precision mechanics company in Berlin (later West Berlin). At some point it was taken over by Heinrich Manderman and became a subsidiary of his Beroflex company.[1] Harwix from September 1968 produced the metered TTL "Examat" finder for the 35mm Exakta cameras, developed and constructed in Dresden by Richard Hummel (apparently at VEB Pentacon and not Ihagee[2]) on order from Manderman.[3] Later it produced the finders for the Exakta 66 camera[4], another Manderman project.
