The 200 was available in silver or dark gray (with contrasting blue grips & accents). The design of the camera changed from a boxy look of the Instax 100 to a rounded "bubble" styling. Although bulky, it very easy to use and handle. The placement of the flash moved from the above the lens in the centre of the body to the side by the shutter release. It is a basic zone focusing camera that has two modes, from 0.9m to 3m and from 3m to infinity. There are controls on the the finder side of the body for adjusting settings including, lighten and darken exposure controls, along with auto and fill-flash options. A circular LCD provides the basic setting information along with exposure counter. The film is loaded in the back which contains a film indicator window. Exposed photos released from the top of the camera with a motor driven ejection system. It uses four common penlight AA batteries located in the hand grip area.
In 2009 a refreshed model was made available, the Instax 210. It has nearly the same design as the 200. Aside from different colors (black and silver accent color) the main difference was moving the light sensor from the lens to the body of the camera. The move was necessary to accommodate a close-up lens adapter accessory that allows you take pictures from 40 to 45cm.
A 210 White version is available, a 210 Pastel version with a blue body and pink handgrip. A limited edition version of the 210 was announced in 2011, featuring Hello Kitty. A Silver Wedding Edition of the camera was released in a silver coloured body, and a more metallic silver version is also available. A Halloween version was release that has the same black body, but with a blue hand grip, lettering and film exit slot.
