Fotoimpex of Berlin, Germany was founded in 1992. It's aim was to import and distribute Eastern European (Fotokemika and Foma) photographic products including film and darkroom products within Germany. They started distributing many products during the unification of Germany and collapse of the wall, as the original distribution methods of manufactured goods from former communist countries was no longer suitable. They are also the main German vendor of Holga cameras. Brands distributed included Bergger, Forte, Foma, Fuji, Jobo, Kentmere, Kodak and Maco.

ADOX Fotowerke, GmbH

In 2003, they became the owner of the Adox film brand immediately after it expired. This presented a problem because at the same time another photographic company in Canada also registered the name Adox Fotowerke, Inc. The Canadian firm decided to brand their products Bluefire to avoid confusion.

In the 1970's, Dupont the owners of the Adox brand sold the recipes and machinery of their film to Fotokemika. The Adox CHS Art series films are made by Fotokemika in Croatia. This reunited the Adox brand to the original film emulsion. After the bankruptcy of AgfaPhoto in 2005, they worked with the former factories and laboratories to continue distribution of Agfa's old photo chemistry and paper products under new branding. In 2007, Forte announced their exit from the photosensitive material business, they decided to acquire and relocate Forte's paper manufacturing line. That same year Freestyle became their distribution partner in the United States.[1] In 2008, through liquidation, was able to acquire the use of two former Agfa production lines.[2] The paper and film lines were relocated and unified to a single location in Leverkusen, Germany. [3] A initial first coating of Adox Pan 400 was released in Sept. 2010. This is based on a newer revision of Agfa APX 400 film, and was manufactured by Agfa's former engineers on Agfa's film production line. The initial run was unsuccessful.[4]

In 2012, they have expanded their film emulsion factory in Bad Saarow, Germany.[5] Their goal is to manufacture Forte polywarmtone paper in their new factory,[6][7] as well as produce a variety of film emulsions including 110 cartridge film.[8] The Adocolor cartridges are the last available type No. 126 film cassettes of the world and are no longer in production. New production of 126 film will be evaluated once the factory has been fully established.[9]

Adox Pan 400 was ready for production, but in August 2012[2], Fotokemika announced plans to stop production of all film emulsion. Since the CHS line of films are manufactured at Fotokemika's plant in Croatia, production of the film had already stopped in March of 2012, due to a mechanical failure in their coating equipment. It was decided to allocate more resources to manufacturing a 100 ISO film. In June 2013, Adox announced CHS 100 II was to be released in August 2013 the film has been in production since February 2013. [10] It is based on a modified CHS 100 with a different sensitizer and manufactured in a cascade coating process improving production quality. The film is now manufactured in Germany.[11] In September, 2012 at the Photokina trade show, Silvermax and Color Implosion film was announced.
