The TL 500 is a 35mm film SLR marketed by Ihagee Kamerawerk. While engraved Ihagee West alongside the eyepiece, the camera is stamped 'Made in Japan' on the base and was designed and manufactured by the Japanese company Petri. It resembles the Petri FTX; but with the top-mounted shutter release of the FT 1000.

This is a rather generic stopdown-metering SLR for 42mm screw lenses. As the name implies this model is limited to a 1/500 top shutter speed, and lacks a self-timer, positioning it as the budget alternative to its sister model the Exakta TL 1000.
