The Schüler-Apparat (student's apparatus) was a view camera for film plates. It was the beginner's small variant of Emil Wünsche's so-called Reise-Cameras (travel cameras). This camera conception seems to have been the basic one for photo amateurs and photography apprentices around the year 1900.

The camera was made of walnut wood. It was available for the plate sizes 9x12cm, 12x16½cm and 13x18cm. Variant Model II was delivered with built-in pneumatically triggerable moment shutter. Model I and II were delivered in different variants, with simple Dilletanten-Objektiv or a better periscopic Universal-Aplanat as lens. The lenses have a revolving disc with different aperture holes.
