The CG-5 is a aperture priority 35mm SLR cameras by Japanese manufacturer Chinon.

It uses a electronic controlled electro magnetic metal focal plane shutter made by Seiko. It has step less speeds of 1 to 1/1000 sec. on automatic mode; and 4 to 1/1000 sec. in 13 steps on manual mode. Flash sync is at 1/60 of a sec., but can be as high as 1/90 of a sec with Chinon Auto S flash strobes. A bulb mode is also offered. The shutter release button can accommodate a screw in release cable.

The metering is a center-weighted TTL design using two silicon blue photo diodes. 25-3200 ISO film can be used. A match LED system is employed for manual exposure. The finder has a display on the lower left that shows shutter speeds, under, over, AF and flash indicators. The AF indicator is for the the Chinon 35 - 70mm Auto Focus Lens. The focusing ground glass screen uses a horizontal split image, which is surrounded by microprism collar. Power is with 2x SR44 coin batteries.
