The EOS 700 is a auto focus 35mm SLR film camera released in 1990 by Canon. A EOS 700 QD version is also available offering quartz date. The cameras is powered by a 2CR5 enclosed within the front part of the hand grip.

Features

The film transport automatically winds the film to the end of the roll on initial loading; thereby moving the exposed frames into the film canister reducing the risk of accidental exposure with a open back. The flash is the variety that can automatically pop-up when the meter senses there is not enough light.

Program dial

This camera was unique in that it feature a pop out reversible program dial. One side having modes for (DEP) Depth of field, (mountain) Landscape, (face) portrait, (flower) macro, (glass) indoor, (3 persons) deep focus, (runner) stop action, (runner moving), (sun flash/dark backdrop) slow sync / fill flash and (dot and triangles) focus preset. The other side of the dial features shutter priority modes with speeds of B, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60, 125, 250, 500, 1000 and 2000. Both sides have Battery check, Self Timer, (L) Lock off, and (P) Program.

Kit lens

The camera was available in two forms. Body only or with a kit containing a zoom lens. The lens often included was a 35-80 mm f4 to 5.6 zoom lens. It was a bit unusual as it had no ring for the zoom. It offers a power zoom function by pressing two large buttons (with lone tree, three tree) on the left hand side of the lens barrel instead of the typical rotating ring.
