Ōhashi Kōki Seisakusho (大橋光機製作所) was a Japanese company based in Tokyo.[1] It made a few cameras around 1935–7. They were distributed by the associated company Ōhashi Takeji Shōten (大橋武治商店).[2] These companies were certainly founded by Ōhashi Takeji (大橋武治), the father of Ōhashi Kyosen (大橋巨泉), a Japanese TV presenter and politician.[3]

List of cameras

It is probable that Only the Baby Light and Roll Light Ref were made by Ōhashi Kōki Seisakusho, and that the other cameras were only distributed by Ōhashi Takeji Shōten. Some sources say that the Hope (4.5×6) folder was made or sold by Ōhashi but this is unsure.[6]

Other

  • Bosch 75/4.5 enlarging lens (imported and sold by Ōhashi Takeji Shōten)
  • Cross filters, filter holders, hoods and gauze screens
  • Riken type all-purpose hoods (also acting as filter holders)

Notes

  1. Its address was Tōkyō-shi Edogawa-ku Koiwa-machi 3, 1625-banchi (東京市江戸川区小岩町三ノ一六二五番地). Source: undated Ōhashi leaflets. The company also used a postal box in 1937: Tōkyō Honjo-kyoku Shishobako 15-gō (東京本所局私書函十五號). Source: advertisement published in the April 1937 issue of Asahi Camera, reproduced in Kokusan kamera no rekishi, p. 100.
  2. Its address was Tōkyō-shi Honjo-ku Ryōgoku 4, 12 (東京本所区両国四ノ十二). Source: undated Ōhashi leaflets.
  3. This is mentioned in Sugiyama, item 2097. Ōhashi Kyosen indeed makes various allusions to his late father Ōhashi Takeji in his website.
  4. All dates: advertisements listed in Kokusan kamera no rekishi.
  5. Sugiyama, item 2097, says that the Elliotte Ace was distributed by Ōhashi Takeji Shōten but attributes it to Aloha Optical Works. The camera is attributed to the distributor Chiyoda Shōkai in Kokusan kamera no rekishi, p. 347.
  6. Sugiyama, item 1072.
